Ketoacidosis - Ketoacidosis is a type of metabolic acidosis which is caused by high concentrations of keto acids, formed by the deamination of amino acids. This is most common in untreated type 1 diabetes mellitus, when the liver breaks down fat and proteins in response to a perceived need for respiratory substrate.
Lactic acidosis - Lactic acidosis is a condition caused by the buildup of lactic acid in the body. It leads to acidification of the blood (acidosis), and is considered a distinct form of metabolic acidosis.
Respiratory acidosis - Respiratory acidosis is acidosis (abnormal acidity of the blood) due to decreased ventilation of the pulmonary alveoli, leading to elevated arterial carbon dioxide concentration.
Keto-enol tautomerism - In organic chemistry, keto-enol tautomerism refers to an chemical equilibrium between a ketone or aldehyde (the keto form) 1 and an enol 2. The interconversion of the two forms involves only the movement of a proton and the shifting of bonding electrons; hence, the isomerism qualifies as a tautomerism.
