Satellite cells - Satellite cells are found in the mature muscle around the muscle fibres, and differentiate from myoblasts. These cells are involved in the normal growth of muscle, as well as regeneration following injury or disease.

Mural cells - Mural cells is a general term to describe the types of cells (vascular smooth muscle cells and pericytes) that surround vascular endothelial cells that line the entire vasculature. In the adult vasculature, endothelial cells are mainly quiescent and are surrounded by smooth muscle cells to aid in processes such as contraction.

Muscular dystrophy - The muscular dystrophies are a group of genetic and hereditary muscle diseases; characterized by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue. In some forms of muscular dystrophy, cardiac and smooth muscles are affected.

Juxtaglomerular cell - In the kidney, the juxtaglomerular cells (JG cells) are cells that synthesize, store, and secrete the enzyme renin. They are specialized smooth muscle cells in the wall of the afferent arteriole that drains blood from the glomerulus.
