Sequence analysis - The term "sequence analysis" in biology implies subjecting a DNA or peptide sequence to sequence alignment, sequence databases, repeated sequence searches, or other bioinformatics methods on a computer.
Threading (protein sequence) - Threading is a method for the computational prediction of protein structure from protein sequence.
Expressed sequence tag - An expressed sequence tag or EST is a short sub-sequence of a transcribed protein-coding or non-protein coding DNA sequence. It was originally intended as a way to identify gene transcripts, but has since been instrumental in gene discovery and sequence determination.
Fusion protein - A fusion protein is a protein created through genetic engineering from two or more proteins/peptides. This is achieved by creating a fusion gene: removing the stop codon from the DNA sequence of the first protein, then appending the DNA sequence of the second protein in frame.
The Protein Information Resource - In collaboration with the Munich Information Center for Protein Sequences (MIPS) and the Japanese International Protein Sequence Database (JIPID) maintains the PIR-International Protein Sequence Database --- a comprehensive, annotated, and non-redundant set of protein sequence databases in which entries are classified into family groups ...
CUBIC: Columbia University Bioinformatics Center - Features PredictProtein service for sequence analysis and protein structure prediction, META for single-page interface to validated sequence analysis, PredictNLS for prediction and analysis of nuclear localization signals, EVA for evaluation of automatic protein structure prediction servers, and DSSPcont for ...
Protein Facility of the Iowa State University - Quantitative PTC derivatized amino acid analysis, Edman N-terminal sequencing, CD spectroscopy, IEF, electrophoretic techniques, including in-gel protein digestion, peptide mass finger-printing, or MALDI mass analysis. Peptide synthesis is also offered at Ames.
