Sewall Wright - Sewall Green Wright (December 21, 1889– March 3, 1988) was an American geneticist known for his influential work on evolutionary theory.
Evolution in Mendelian Populations - Evolution in Mendelian Populations is a lengthy 1931 scientific paper on evolution by the American population geneticist Sewall Wright, published in Genetics volume 16, pages 97-126. In it, Wright outlines various concepts including genetic drift, effective population size and inbreeding.
Idealised population - In population genetics an idealised population, also sometimes called a Fisher-Wright population after Ronald Fisher and Sewall Wright, is a population whose members can mate and reproduce with any other member of the other gender, and where random genetic drift does not occur.
Effective population size - In population genetics, the concept of effective population size Ne was introduced by the American geneticist Sewall Wright, who wrote two landmark papers on it (Wright 1931, 1938). He defined it as "the number of breeding individuals in an idealized population that would show the same amount of dispersion of allele frequencies under random genetic drift or the same ...
